Private tutor in Garland, TX
Education
Texas A&M University - BS, Mechanical Engineering
Experience
I am a graduate of the IB program. I attended Texas A&M University, where I majored in Mechanical Engineering. In college, I worked as an RA, and as such was involved with planning social events and in Calculus tutoring. I thoroughly enjoyed my math classes and decided to minor in Math. After graduation, I participated in Teach For America, which was more interesting to me than a job in engineering. I taught Science (sixth grade) with them for three years and loved every aspect of teaching.I have enjoyed tutoring since I was in high school. I often tutored fellow students in Geometry, Calculus, and Algebra. During this time, I also led a study group for the IB Physics HL test. I continued to tutor during my early college years. I began by holding study sessions with other students in my Calculus I class and then later I started volunteering with one of my former middle school teachers. I tutored 6th grade students in English writing. I like to adapt my teaching methods to fit each individual student so that they can understand the concepts in a way that makes sense to them. I like to incorporate math whenever I can, and once had the chance to teach a Math class for summer school. I understand that this subject can be difficult and challenging, but I do believe that anyone can learn it if they relate Math to real-world situations and practice often. I am very excited about working with new students!
